PROMISE

From the April 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Let us say of the beauties of the sensuous universe: 'I love your promise; and shall know, some time, the spiritual reality ... of what I now through you discern dimly.' "—Miscellaneous Writings, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 87

O Exquisite, triumphant spring,
I love your promise, more and more;
The beauty shed so endlessly
From out a boundless store.

What message of infinity
is written, thus, in every leaf:
Renewal life, tranquillity,
Love, overcoming grief.

Form, color, light ethereal—
If such the symbols be,
We study on, assured, to learn
Divine reality.
