An account of my first healing in Christian Science appeared in The Christian Science Journal for January, 1904, and was written by my father in grateful testimony. I was the infant who swallowed the open safety pin, with no ill effects save occasional coughing. The pin was coughed up ten weeks later. I have ever since enjoyed splendid health; and when forgetfulness of God's ever—presence has seemingly caused inharmony in any way, this wrong condition has been quickly overcome through a prompt and faithful application of the truth of Christian Science. I wish to express my gratitude for the loving and always ready practitioners. Each experience I have had has been a blessing rather than an affliction, for "every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger," as Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 410 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
When about seven years of age I was instantaneously healed of what seemed to be an alarming attack of croup, when my father applied his understanding of Christian Science to the situation. During my childhood my parents always turned to God for help and protection for me, and never failed to see this help and protection manifested.
A few years ago I had a series of disturbances which might have been called distressing and serious. One of these was a cold which became alarming one night when I had a violent and continuous spell of coughing. My mother called a practitioner and work was immediately taken up. The condition became so distressing that a second call for help was made after midnight. I soon went to sleep and slept peacefully until morning, for the fear had been cast out and the law of harmony allowed to manifest itself. Although I did not go out for several days, I had a sense of peace and happiness all the time, and was soon back at school as normal and healthy as ever. Later, other forms of error calling themselves eye trouble, swollen neck gland, an acute attack of pleurisy, and painful wisdom teeth were quickly met, through the loving help of a practitioner, and banished into their native nothingness.
