Christian Science came to me in direct answer to prayer. At first I did not recognize it as such and tried to get along without it. And then like the Psalmist I found myself in "an horrible pit" from which I could not escape. So I turned to Christian Science as the only remedy that could help me, and I found the great Physician. Immediately after I asked help from a practitioner my troubles began to melt away, and I was so filled with joy that I wanted to shout the good news to the world. While I gained immediate relief from some of the physical troubles, others were slow to give way. Perhaps this has been a blessing in disguise, for I have had to study much and learn to lean hard on divine Principle. Many false beliefs have had to be conquered and many selfish and unloving thoughts put out. There is still much to be done in weeding out the tares from the wheat, but I am so grateful for the wonderful revelations of Truth that have come to me.
I have from the beginning of my interest in Christian Science been able to do anything that it was necessary for me to do, and am to-day a very active, strong woman. There have been some dark days, when I knew not which way to go, but always I was sustained by the everlasting arms of Love. One passage of Scripture that was a wonderful help to me stands out in my memory. "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."
One other healing for which I am especially grateful was that of burns on my shoulders, back of neck, eyes, and nose. I was severely burned and went to a physician to have them dressed. He was very kind and considerate but said that I would be fortunate if the bandages were off in five or six weeks. I immediately asked help of a dear Christian Scientist who had so lovingly given me assistance many times before. My eyes and nose were healed in two or three days without any material remedies whatever, and the other places were well in less than three weeks, during which period a dressing was used merely to keep them covered.
