I should like to express my gratitude for a wonderful healing I received some time ago. As I was lighting the gas generator, an explosion occurred. It came as such a shock, and the burning sensation was so intense in my eyes, that I could hardly find my way from the room. I immediately declared that there was no accident in divine Mind, and that I could not be hurt. The whole face, especially around the eyes, was very red and much swollen. I found my way to my room, and my sister called a Christian Science practitioner, who began work for me at once; and I continued to declare that there is only one power. In the Lesson-Sermon for that week in the Christian Science Quarterly there was a reference which came to me with great force (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 523): "The creations of matter arise from a mist or false claim, or from mystification, and not from the firmament, or understanding, which God erects between the true and false," and it seemed to me that there was a wall shutting out all error and I was safe on the side of omnipotent Truth.
A notary was coming in about an hour to get my signature, and I was in such pain that it was impossible to open my eyes. The practitioner was called again and told of this, and the message came back that I had nothing to do with an hour ahead; now, this minute, divine Mind was operating in harmonious activity, and I should go forward in the strength of God. That thought began to bring ease, and, although I had not been able to open my eyes, when the notary came a half hour before he was due, I started downstairs in the strength of God and found that my eyes opened naturally and nearly all the pain and swelling had gone. I signed the papers very easily. That evening I attended church, showing almost no evidence of the accident. This healing, which was so quick and marked, has given me the greatest confidence.
I am also most grateful for the healing of a severe bladder trouble. This demonstration took many months, with constant help and study, and faithful application of the teachings of Christian Science.
