It is with great joy that I tell of the many blessings which have been experienced by members of my family and by me for more than twenty years through the study of Christian Science.
My first healing was of appendicitis. One year previous to this healing I was so ill with an attack of appendicitis that the attending physician told me I had every symptom that called for an operation, but as I was not in physical condition to go through one it was not insisted upon. I recovered sufficiently to be about my duties part of the time, but was advised to go to a hospital immediately if the symptoms returned. After one year of anxiety, fear, and suffering, when it seemed I could not go on any longer in that condition, a dear friend who called at my home spoke to me of Christian Science and lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had scarcely begun reading the chapter on Prayer when I felt a great desire to know more of this wonderful truth. This same friend assisted me in locating a practitioner, and the third week of treatment found me entirely healed. During the intervening period I had to change my thinking, and overcome the belief of need of material means of relief. This was accomplished completely through the loving help of the practitioner.
Some years later, one of my daughters, who had attended a Christian Science Sunday School from childhood, became very ill. After a few days she became delirious, but while in that condition she asked many times for Science and Health, and after looking through it she could always be quieted by having someone read to her, or quote some statement from it. It was necessary at this time for our entire family to experience a complete mental house-cleaning, and place this dear child absolutely in the arms of divine Love, to be able to say, "Thy will be done," and to realize that God's will for His children could be only life, health, harmony, and love. It was then that "the last enemy" was routed, and with returning consciousness came a rapid restoration to normalcy which was marvelous to those who witnessed this experience.
