Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

I, too, feel impelled to give thanks...

From the August 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I, too, feel impelled to give thanks for the great good which has come into my life since I began studying Christian Science.

In a time of great need, when my husband was very ill and had to live apart from me, loving friends drew our attention to Christian Science. Through untiring, loving work my husband's sickness was slowly overcome. I, however, met with great difficulty in overcoming the fear of this error which had held our entire family in bondage, and through which I had lost my mother. Through the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I got a better understanding of Jesus' command, "Take no thought for your life;" and the truth has made me free, as Christ Jesus promised us: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I had to do my husband's professional work during his absence. With anxiety and fear I undertook the task. With the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, I learned to feel myself entirely surrounded by God's love, and all difficulties melted away.

Also in a physical way Christian Science has helped me a great deal. For many years I suffered from severe backaches which often prevented me from sleeping nights. Everything was tried to help me, including a serious operation. Nothing helped, however, and the ceaseless pain completely exhausted me, and made me ill-humored and very irritable. Through work in Christian Science the pain entirely disappeared, so that now I am a happy woman.
