It is with a heart full of gratitude to God and to our dear Leader that I wish to give this testimony. I did not come into Christian Science for a physical healing. I was trying to find a practical religion that I could rely on, and Christian Science proved to be what I wanted, for it answered all my questions and the spiritual uplifting was wonderful.
When our little son was six months old he had what the doctors called a fistula. I was very much worried over his condition, for they told me that only an operation would help him. I did not go back to the doctor, however, but resolved to take him to a Christian Science practitioner, where I received help and my fears were quieted. In less than a week the baby was healed. He is now over five years old and there has been no return of the trouble.
I was so grateful to God for this healing that I resolved to delve deeper into this truth, for at this time I was suffering from what the doctor called a nervous breakdown. After consulting twelve doctors to determine the cause, I was told that I was suffering from goiter, chronic appendicitis, adhesions, and liver trouble, and that not a gland in my body was functioning properly. I was despondent, indeed, and felt that life was no longer worth living. Then there came to my thought the healing of our little son. I resolved to throw away all medicine and rely on God for my healing. I called the same practitioner and again received help. The next day I felt very much better and continued to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and in another week I was able to go about my household duties.
