Chiristian Science came to me in answer to prayer. From childhood I had read the Scriptures and had learned to love them, but as I grew older I was unable to accept some of the interpretations put upon them by the orthodox church of which I was then a member. In my search for light I prayed earnestly that I might have a better understanding of God; that I might really know God. Soon after, there came to my attention the healing through Christian Science of two very dear friends, one of whom had been pronounced incurable at a noted sanitarium in the East. That the healing in each case had come through the power of God I did not doubt, for I had taken the Scriptures literally; to me it was not a thing incredible that God should heal the sick or even raise the dead. I began at once to investigate Christian Science.
While I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, I have received many healings. I have found in Christian Science a religion which can be used to solve every problem with which we are confronted. I have been healed of sick headaches, hemorrhoids, severe colds, and on three occasions of acute physical illnesses, the names of which I do not know, as they were not diagnosed. The symptoms, which were quite different in each case, yielded promptly to Christian Science treatment and disappeared. In Romans we read, "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." This passage had been meaningless to me until, through the study of Christian Science, I began to perceive the true nature of the man of God's creating. This spiritual interpretation healed me instantaneously of pink eye. This was my first healing in Christian Science and occurred more than sixteen years ago. These healings have been permanent. I have also used these teachings successfully to solve business problems.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction. I am grateful indeed for this truth which has made the Bible a new book, and for all the activities of the Christian Science movement established by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.—Kansas City, Missouri.
