Christian Science has brought so many blessings into my life and so many lovely healings that it would take innumerable pages to recount them all. One of the greatest of these was the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School for four years. When I was twelve years of age we moved to a small country village where there were no Christian Scientists; but the seeds of Truth had been deeply sown and were to ripen in later years into blessings untold.
About this time I had to be away from my mother, and due to the unhappiness and discord through which I was passing a condition of inflammatory rheumatism affixed itself to my body. As the aunt with whom I was staying at the time was opposed to Christian Science, she insisted upon sending for her family doctor. He could do nothing for me, and the condition grew worse until by the time my mother returned the pain was so severe I would awake in the night crying aloud with it. A christian Science practitioner was asked for help and my mother read to me from the Bible and Science and Health. The condition was cured almost at once, and the healing has been permanent. Two years later a large kettle of boiling water was accidentally tipped over my head and shoulders. I was alone with my brother at the time. Through repeating and realizing the truth of "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of the textbook, I received an instantaneous healing and there was no discoloration or mark of any kind on my skin.
During recent years I had a quick healing of the symptoms of one of the so-called worst and most feared contagious diseases. I was healed also during a Christian Science lecture of the fear of sore throats. A month after this fear was overcome, I was healed in one day and night of the symptoms of another so-called contagious disease.
