It is a joyous privilege for me to express my gratitude for Christian Science by telling of some demonstrations that I have experienced.
Through reading the Christian Science textbook I was healed of what the medical fraternity called tuberculosis. Indeed, life seemed very dark when I was so submerged in the beliefs concerning this malady that I could not see the light of Truth. It was not my desire to go to a physician and have this case diagnosed, but I found it necessary to do so in order that some members of my family, who are not Christian Scientists, might be satisfied. When the examination had taken place and the symptoms been described, I found the mental picture almost more than I could endure.
Some relatives who live in a climate which is considered healthful for this disease very lovingly asked me to try the different environment. While my heart was filled with appreciation for all that was being done by my dear ones, I was not benefited by the climate. Finally I came to the conclusion that "what God cannot do, man need not attempt," as we are told on page 231 of Science and Health. It appeared utterly ridiculous to expect one material element—the climate—to remedy another material element—the mortal body—when both were comprised of nonintelligent matter.
