Testimonies of Healing

With deepest gratitude for all...

From the September 1934 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With deepest gratitude for all the blessings received through the daily study and application of Christian Science, I am prompted to offer my testimony in the hope that it will help lift my fellow men out of deep waters.

Christian Science is teaching humanity how to work out its salvation from material bondage to all ills of the flesh, into glorious liberty as children of God. Brooding over the loss of my parents through separation, and the loss of my material home, and being unable to continue my education, which promised future opportunities, I suffered great resentment and self-pity. I also experienced a great sorrow in early life, which caused me to become quite cynical. This condition brought me into a state of despair, which caused me to become a mental as well as a physical wreck.

Laboring under pulmonary tuberculosis, the physicians claiming that my left lung was gone and giving me only a short time to live, I was in my "extremity," which proved to be "God's opportunity." Christian Science was presented to me by dear friends who informed me of how to become acquainted with God. The statement, "You are God's perfect child," aroused me By striving to be obedient in daily reading the Lesson-Sermon in connection with the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, I began to realize that I belonged to God and was part of His creation. Hours were spent in pondering the beautiful truths contained in these two books.

Human consciousness was undergoing a process of purification, and thought was released from the body and its material environment. Gradually I realized that I was free, and I saw a new heaven and a new earth. I had claimed my God-given dominion over the physical senses.

What a glorious privilege humanity is enjoying in becoming acquainted with God, our Father-Mother Love, and with man as a reflection of this perfect, ever present divine Parent! Christian Science has taught me how to forgive, to love more, and to be more patient and forbearing toward the shortcomings of my fellow men.

I am deeply grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy for the blessings received through the daily study and application of Christian Science. I am sincerely grateful for the literature, and for the Christian Science Hymnal, whose healing strains are ever available; for membership in a branch church, and for the opportunity to serve in a small capacity. I am daily striving to gain more of the Mind which was in Christ Jesus, and to be more obedient to Truth's requirements.—
