During the past twenty-five years, my family and I have depended absolutely upon Christian Science in overcoming every discord, of whatever nature; and we can say with hearts overflowing with gratitude that the truth, as taught in Christian Science, has never failed to heal when properly applied. Christian Scientists may fail, temporarily, but Christian Science never will.
Two of the most outstanding of all the blessings we have received are as follows.
A member of the family suffered a fall and sustained two vertebral fractures. He was taken by his employer to the company's doctor, who kindly gave him first aid. The injured one was told that he would have to go to the hospital and remain quietly in bed for a considerable period of time. This he declined to do, and also refused to be taken home in an ambulance, fearing it might shock his mother. Upon his arrival at home, a Christian Science practitioner was called. Although the injured one had been offered certain drugs to relieve the pain, which the doctor stated was sure to be suffered, he walked upstairs unaided, retired at the usual time, and slept without pain and without any material aid whatsoever. A few weeks later, this person, when entering the government service, was subjected to a rigid examination made by two army surgeons, at which time the healing was pronounced complete, without any aftereffects.
