FACT OR FABLE?

From the May 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The fact that God is Spirit was stated by Christ Jesus. And in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 335), "There is no evil in Spirit, because God is Spirit." These facts stand in opposition to the fable that there are good and evil spirits, or power and intelligence in matter.

If all men accepted the facts about God and man which are revealed in the Bible, facts which Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, knew and expounded, universal harmony, peace, prosperity, generosity, health, and love would be established throughout the earth. Acceptance of the material fable about the origin and destiny of man, and belief that he is dependent upon material ways and means for supply, result in disharmony, disease, poverty, hatred, greed, destruction, and war.

Christ Jesus gave definite proofs of his knowledge of the facts about God as Spirit and man as governed by Him. He demonstrated the spiritual fact in restoring to harmony the sick, the sinning, the dying, supplying food for multitudes, and procuring money for paying the taxes. Indeed, he applied his understanding of God to all circumstances pertaining to human experience.
