I am very grateful that Christian Science teaches us to know God as a loving Father-Mother and to turn to Him in every need. More than twenty years ago in the Christian Science Sunday School I learned this quotation from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This truth came again to help and comfort in an hour of need. Physical distress and discordant home conditions turned me, one day, to God as an ever-present help. I commenced the study of the textbook that night. I understood very little of what I read, but the healings came. Mrs. Eddy says (ibid., p. 152), "Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood."
I had a beautiful healing of a growth on my face, supposedly caused by a fall when I was a child. I was unaware of this healing until a member of the family told me of it. Indigestion, heart pains, and a severe case of hives were also healed about that time. I am also very grateful for the healing of an injury sustained in a recent fall. Upon calling a practitioner for help I was asked the question, "Did this happen to God?" A little startled, I answered, "No," and in the realization that what happened to my true selfhood must first happen to God, I was healed.
I am also very grateful for an improved environment, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the blessed privilege of class instruction, for which I am more grateful every day.— Wichita, Kansas.
