The truth about God and man's relationship to Him cannot be discerned by material sense, but is revealed to spiritual understanding.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, speaks of her own spiritual experience where she says (Retrospection and Introspection, p. 31), "The first spontaneous motion of Truth and Love, acting through Christian Science on my roused consciousness, banished at once and forever the fundamental error of faith in things material." After years of prayer and consecrated effort, the spiritual facts of Life and Truth were revealed as they had not been understood since the time of Christ Jesus. She found that the activity of Truth and Love in human consciousness, when understood, produced a sense of health and harmony in human experience. She discovered that the law of God, which Christ Jesus understood, based his healing work, and that the false evidence of the material senses was annulled through the application of this law. In fact, she found that only through the understanding and application of the law of God could the truth of being be demonstrated.
This revelation has brought within the reach of mankind the understanding of the availability of divine law to meet every human need. It has brought to men not only the Science of Mind-healing, but also the proof that the healing power manifested by Christ Jesus did not belong to the past alone, but is available here and now for present demonstration. The practical application of the Principle of divine metaphysics was thus made plain, bringing to light the eternality of true being.
