I shall never cease to be grateful for my first healing in Christian Science, because it provided me with an indisputable proof that the healing and redeeming power of divine Love is as active and potent now as it was at the time of Jesus.
I was in great pain and was confronted with an operation for a chronic stomach complaint. To avoid the operation and to find relief from the pain, I followed the advice of a member of my family and called a Christian Science practitioner for help, whose name was obtained at random from The Christian Science Journal. I knew practically nothing of Christian Science, and to my great surprise I experienced what is known as an instantaneous healing through absent treatment. From that time, I have been able to enjoy any kind of food without distress.
This experience made me desirous of knowing more about this healing power. I procured a Bible, a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and a Christian Science Quarterly, and began to read the Lesson-Sermons contained therein and to attend the Sunday services.
