FROM THE DIRECTORS

[As published in the Christian Science Sentinel, March 13, 19431]

From the May 1943 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many Christian Scientists are eager to be more active in caring for the needs of men and women in the armed forces. We feel that one of their greatest needs is for the home environment, and we recommend that committees of individual Christian Scientists be formed in all parts of the Field to arrange for servicemen and servicewomen to be invited into the homes of Christian Scientists for meals or overnight or week-end stays.

When such an activity is undertaken, it should be carried on unofficially and not as a branch church activity.

Each committee is free to devise its own methods for handling the work, but it may be helpful to know that some committees have used questionnaires to secure the names and addresses of families wishing to entertain servicemen and servicewomen.
