Concerning the healing and redemptive nature of Christ's Christianity, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 233 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has written these words: "Already the shadow of His right hand rests upon the hour." With prophetic vision she has pointed to the signs or evidences of the coming of the Christ, Truth, that is to destroy sin, sickness, and death, and she has stated plainly how we may discern this coming. On another page of the same book she has written (p. 96), "Before error is wholly destroyed, there will be interruptions of the general material routine." She adds, "These disturbances will continue until the end of error, when all discord will be swallowed up in spiritual Truth."
The world at this time is witnessing the greatest upheaval in history, and to human sense it would seem that the so-called forces of evil and destruction are tearing it asunder. A portion of mankind has mistakenly pursued its course in the material realm, under false systems of government, and with an attempt to abandon all that is righteous and Godlike. Yet, there is hope. Christianity has not failed. Love has not failed. This is the hour of Love's opportunity, and it is heartening to feel that humanity, in large measure, is awakening to the need of purging and purifying the world of this plague of error and falsity.
Everywhere men and women, actuated by a sincere spirit of patriotism and a determination to take their stand on the side of Principle, are asking the questions: "What can I do to help?" "What can I give?" "Where is the way of opportunity, that I too may serve my fellow man, my country, my God?" Thousands are being drafted into various activities, not just for the national defense but for the cause of civilization itself, that justice and freedom may universally prevail.
