In childhood I was taught to pray, and to expect my prayers to be answered. I am grateful for this. But it was the study of Christian Science which taught me to pray aright to God, who is the universal Father, available to all who seek Him understandingly.
Let no beginner in the study of Christian Science believe the way is too long, or too hard for him. As we make use of the means provided for our guidance by our loving Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, our daily needs are met and our spiritual progress assured.
I began the study of Christian Science some years ago with a loved one who was seeking physical healing. Purchasing the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, we began daily study of the Lesson-Sermons and gratefully subscribed to and read all the periodicals. A new vocabulary had to be learned (rather, the spiritual meaning of an old vocabulary was being revealed to our thought, which had been educated materially). The overcoming of self-consciousness, unjust criticism of others, and self-condemnation, and the healing of sick headaches, were among the first fruits of the spiritual education I had begun.
