TRUTH IS UNIVERSAL

From the November 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Right-Thinking individuals and nations are grateful for the cessation of hostilities, but they long for the enduring, spiritual peace that can be gained only when God is recognized as universal Love and His will is "done in earth, as it is in heaven." God's will is that we acknowledge Him as the universal Father of men —regardless of race or creed—and that we recognize and demonstrate the brotherhood of man as a basic reality of spiritual existence.

On page 13 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes: "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals. It is the open fount which cries, 'Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.'" God revealed to Isaiah that before they called He would answer the prayers of the faithful. The open fount is a figure which depicts the free gift of God's purifying love, ready for all who call upon Him.

The universe of God's creating is spiritual; therefore His supplies are spiritual. One may ask, "But how can we be supplied spiritually on earth?" How God supplies our human needs is stated on page 307 of "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy: "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment."
