It was about twelve years ago that I noticed an announcement of a forthcoming Christian Science lecture. I noted the date and mentioned it to a friend. Purely from a sense of curiosity we attended the lecture. That apparently casual decision to go to the lecture was a turning point in my life.
The lecture opened up to me a new and wonderful way of life, setting forth Christianity as Jesus taught it, while the literature given us as we left the hall served greatly to increase my interest and joy. I felt at once that I must read the marvelous book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, mentioned so frequently in those periodicals. I lost no time in finding a Reading Room, where I borrowed the textbook. It was not long before I felt I must own a copy, and in 1932 I purchased one.
As a family we were regular attendants at one of the orthodox churches, but my husband and I soon decided to send our two small boys to the Christian Science Sunday School, and later, after much heart-searching and prayer that we might not be taking a wrong step, we too went solely to the Christian Science services.
