For the many blessings which I have experienced since beginning the study of Christian Science I am deeply grateful. When seemingly insurmountable difficulties have arisen, steadfast knowing of the truth has been required to see in them opportunities to prove what I know of the healing and protecting power of divine Love. I know something of what our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, meant when she wrote (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 149, 150): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance."
I should like to tell of the healing of a severe case of influenza, including a very sore throat. During this time it was necessary for me to be away from home several hours each day. After I returned home the second evening a high fever developed, and for a fleeting moment I had a fear of death. Immediately the thought came: "What if you do pass on? You can't go any place where God is not." With that thought the fear left me. The high fever continued through the third day, but the close of that day saw the end of the error.
Another healing which stands out to me is that of a fractured toe. While crossing a street in the downtown section of the city, my foot slipped off the curb in such a manner as apparently to fracture the little toe on the left foot. By the time I arrived at my home the foot and toe had swollen badly. A member of my church, who heard of the accident, called to offer any assistance that might be needed. During the visit she suggested that I have the foot tightly bound, saying such a procedure was permissible. I told her, however, that I preferred to handle the problem without having the foot bound. I am very grateful I took my stand for absolute reliance on the healing power of Truth, for the toe healed perfectly and I have had no further trouble whatsoever. At the same time a painful condition of long standing of another toe on the same foot disappeared without my realizing when the healing of the discordant condition took place.
