"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues" (Mark 16:17). Thus reads the Master's promise, and he adds (verse 18), "They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." What is this new language he promised us? Is it just a new form of words? Or is it a new quality of thought, a new understanding of life, which includes harmony and power for everyone and gives one authority over all evil? Surely, such an understanding of life is very much to be desired.
Our Master's promises are explained and fulfilled for us in Christian Science, as discovered and set forth by Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This Science presents a wholly spiritual method of solving the problems which have till now baffled mankind, and it is the Christianly scientific method which Christ Jesus utilized nearly two thousand years ago in Palestine. Through spiritual understanding alone can all questions, human and divine, be answered.
But this Science had to be expressed in human terms, or its healing mission on earth could never have been fulfilled. Its ministry had to reach suffering humanity in order to lift humanity up into the warmth and light of divine, healing Love. And through her revelation of Christian Science to us Mrs. Eddy has shown us how to do this.
