Testimonies of Healing

From the September 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has been my privilege to serve my country in both World Wars. In the first war I served in the Navy. In the present war I have served over two and a half years in the Army Air Forces, during which time I have had the opportunity of demonstrating the healing power of Christian Science on numerous occasions, as well as realizing the continual protection of divine Love.

When an epidemic was prevalent, by realizing the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, I proved my protection was at hand and also the truth of Mary Baker Eddy's words on page 210 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany": "Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited." While I am very grateful for many physical healings in my own experience, I am more grateful for the spiritual regeneration which is taking place daily and for the protection of Christian Science.

Once, while in an airplane which kept circling the field, unable to land because of a broken landing gear, I held to Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 199 in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible." We landed with only slight damage to the plane.
