David said in Psalms 91:1, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." In the opening lines of the Preface to Mary Baker Eddy's textbook on Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is a reiteration of the promise in these words (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." It is right that one in whose life these promises have been fulfilled, and who has been blessed by the continuous unfoldment of good and the sustaining presence of the infinite, should express gratitude. It is, therefore, with deep humility that I offer this testimony of the efficacy of Christian Science to heal and bless and to fulfill the divine promises.
At the time of my birth my mother was a student of this teaching, and therefore my early childhood was blessed by her application of the truth to my youthful problems. One of the early lessons taught by her was with regard to finding misplaced possessions; that nothing can be lost, since God is everywhere and knows all. This instruction has been as useful through the years as it was then.
After the passing of my mother, I found that the truths I had learned from her and in the Christian Science Sunday School were indeed my unfailing help. I was placed in an orthodox Sunday School, where I found that in spite of the unselfish, loving guidance of its teachers my spiritual needs were not met, nor were the questions that arose in my mind satisfactorily answered. The truths I had learned in Christian Science were "my fortress, shield and stay."
