ONE of the deepest desires of the human heart is the attainment of a secure and harmonious home, a home where beauty, peace, and confidence reign; where work may be carried on in undisturbed continuity; where friends may be welcomed and enjoyed; where the radiance of love and joy abound; and where the sunshine of Truth lightens and brightens each new day.
Where can such a home be found? In a human habitation, a house "made with hands." located at a definite address and limited to a prescribed city or country? No. Since this desire is mental, its realization will be found only in the mental realm. And since the qualities or conditions mentioned are desired universally, they can be gained only through an understanding of that infinite divine consciousness which is God, divine Love, and which alone includes all that is necessary to fulfill this desire.
Many years ago an unrecorded author described home as "the changeless love of God" and as "the quietness of Mind, which I may know on land or sea." The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, explains the fundamental truth underlying these utterances where she writes (Pulpit and Press, p. 2). "The real house in which 'we live, and move, and have our being' is Spirit, God, the eternal harmony of infinite Soul." Our home, then, is contingent upon a correct understanding of ourselves in relation to divine Principle, or the one primal cause. Throughout her writings Mrs. Eddy shows us that in our true being we are ideas in Mind, spiritual individualities, not physical beings, and that our abode is forever in the mansions of Truth and Love.
