In Isaiah (43:12) we read: "I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God."
I came into Christian Science for a healing of tuberculosis. After three months of applying Christian Science, with the consecrated help of a practitioner, I was freed from a relentless and deep-rooted belief of ten years' standing. Greater than the physical healing, which followed in natural order, were the spiritual understanding of a living God and the insight into the real and eternal, which are necessary to the realization of true selfhood. I knew that I could be subordinate only to God, good. This truth of being changed my life from one of physical weakness to strength. Through an understanding of God as Life, I had awakened to the truth of being; and I knew that my life from then on would be full of activity and joyous responsibility. Upon finding myself suddenly well and free, I was filled with gratitude.
Christian Science taught me how to find God, and my healing was the practical result. Mrs. Eddy says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 136), "At this period my demonstration of Christian Science cannot be fully understood, theoretically; therefore it is best explained by its fruits, and by the life of our Lord as depicted in the chapter Atonement and Eucharist, in 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.'"
