THAT which is true is inevitable. There is no getting around it or away from it. Truth is the only real condition of everything, everywhere and forever. The infinite oneness of the absolutely true Mind, which is God, holds man and the universe in its eternal verity.
After years of Scriptural research, Mary Baker Eddy discovered that this supreme fact of God-caused and Truth-enlightened existence, which Christ Jesus demonstrated in his redemptive work, remains to be understood and utilized for the salvation of the human race. Mrs. Eddy named her discovery Christian Science, and out of her yearning to heal and to save she organized the Church of Christ, Scientist, and wrote "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." In its Preface she says (p. vii), "Truth, independent of doctrines and time-honored systems, knocks at the portal humanity;" and, "Though empires fall, 'the Lord shall reign forever.'" God's forever truth is revealed and is again being demonstrated, and the illusive nature of the human mind with all its sense testimony is more and more widely acknowledged.
A physicist of great distinction has declared that the man of science does not put overmuch confidence in "the storyteller" who, he says, lives in his mind. How much more then does the student of Christian Science, whose conclusions as to reality rest squarely on the scientific fact that all that exists is infinite Mind and its infinite expression, see the utter futility of believing what the material senses seem to tell him. Rather he finds himself praying intelligently that he may be God-taught and so able to discern the way of Truth.
