To tell others in words what Christian Science has done for me is not easy; but with the desire to say "thank you," and in the hope that my testimony may help others, I will try. The blessings which its ministrations have bestowed are many. It has been the background of my experience for many years, and I shall ever be grateful for the privilege of some years in the Sunday School. My adolescence was protected and my home life made happier because of it. Its introduction to my father through his hearing a Christian Science lecture resulted in his healing of hay fever, from which he had suffered annually for many years. Though it was some time before my mother became convinced of its truth, she could not hold back for long in view of the difference it made in my father's health and happiness, and soon she was accompanying him to the services and we children were attending Sunday School.
My sister was quickly healed of a severe attack of ringworm which threatened to deprive her of her hair, when she decided to take her stand and have Christian Science treatment. My brother was wonderfully protected during his periods of service with the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force in the two World Wars.
Since childhood I had been troubled by periodic bouts of sleeplessness, more pronounced at times of worry and excitement; but because they were intermittent, no serious work was done about this. War conditions, with extra work and responsibility, seemed to aggravate the problem, so that for a considerable time I had little sleep. This culminated in a severe nervous breakdown. National Health Insurance requirements made it necessary for a doctor to be called, and he pronounced my case hopeless, saying I could not be worse.
