Testimonies of Healing

When Christian Science came to me I...

From the October 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Christian Science came to me I was instantaneously healed of hay fever, which had been recurring annually from childhood. Summers spent traveling in the North and West had served to alleviate the distress only partially. Prior to my entering college I decided to remain for the summer at a residence not far from home. However, discomfort and fatigue from this condition were augmented by asthma for several sleepless nights, so that when a loved one offered to take me to talk with a Christian Science practitioner, I was ready. In this talk the practitioner reminded me that God is the only creator and that all He creates is good. These statements, followed by some silence, during which I pondered the magnificence of God and His perfect universe, permanently healed me of both hay fever and asthma.

Another healing which stands out in happy remembrance occurred in a Christian Science Reading Room. For several weeks suitable employment had seemed to be unobtainable, and an initial interview which had appeared interesting and promising developed no further. Finally, one morning while I was sitting in the Reading Room, my true spiritual activity as an individual manifestation of God became so vivid to me that great ease and peace filled my being. In a short while I left and went to a nearby employment agency through which I had secured the afore-mentioned interview. There I was greeted with, "We have been trying to reach you; you are wanted for another interview," and the company was named where I had been introduced some weeks previously. Employment followed that afternoon.

Other healings are no lesser landmarks to me. These have included joyous release from sorrow upon the passing of a beloved wife, from false responsibility for a child's care, from financial lack, from misunderstanding the place of church organization, from inferiority, resentment, discontent, and fear. And to have been a witness to the overnight mending of a son's hand that had been crushed by an automatic elevator has filled my cup of rejoicing for Christian Science.
