Man Can Never Fall

From the October 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Made in God's image, man can never fall
From the dominion of his high estate.
No happening, however great or small.
No seeming force of doubt or fear or hate.
Can swerve him from his onward course of right.
Man is not helpless, swayed by circumstance;
Man is triumphant, creature of the light,
And not a puppet in a mortal dance.
Immortal, man is guided on his way
By his creator, who could never make
A person lost and burdened: day by day
God lovingly makes plain the path to take
That leads to heights where, in a secret place,
Man knows true being filled with truth and grace.
