From the November 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Board of Directors announces the election of Thomas E. Hurley, C.S.B., to the office of Committee on Publication for Massachusetts and Manager of Committees on Publication, effective October 1, 1952.

Mr. Hurley will succeed George Charming, C.S.B., who has held this office since 1950. It was with genuine regret that the Directors received Mr. Channing's resignation. He has served our Cause with courage, devotion, and conspicuous success, not only in the Committee on Publication office, but as lecturer, Editor of our religious periodicals, and in other capacities, and now desires to return to San Francisco to carry on his work there as a teacher of Christian Science and practitioner.

Prior to this appointment the new Committee on Publication. Mr. Hurley, served as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, to which he was first appointed in 1938. He is a graduate of Yale University and has been a member of The Mother Church since 1919. Since 1925 he has devoted himself entirely to the public practice of Christian Science. He became an authorized teacher of Christian Science in 1931. For a three-year term beginning in 1947 he served as First Reader in The Mother Church. He has also served as Committee on Publication for Kentucky.
