The father of a family who were students of Christian Science was troubled because an expected and much-needed raise in salary was not forthcoming long after the time it had been promised. After prayerful thought a member of the family assured the father that if he would remind his employer of the promise, it would be kept. The father doubtingly followed this advice and brought back word that the promise had been reversed and the increase refused without explanation.
"Have you earned it?" he was asked.
"I have," he replied.
