Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science came into my experience...

From the August 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science came into my experience during the depression years. My father had passed on, and the duties of maintaining a home had fallen upon my shoulders. For several years I labored with a false sense of responsibility. When Christian Science came to me and my understanding of God improved, so did my physical, financial, and family affairs. God's abundant provision and loving guidance through the years have been an inspiration to me and a proof that God is indeed a loving Father.

I have experienced many physical healings, among which have been those of an infected eye and an injured foot. The latter healing resulted from the work of a consecrated practitioner and from my constant expression of gratitude. A grease burn on my wrist and a resulting infection were overcome by my realizing that man lives above mortal strife and earthborn taint, as Mrs. Eddy's hymn entitled "Christmas Morn" reminds us (Poems, p. 29). Protection from injury was experienced when I fell from a ladder onto a typewriter while I was washing the walls of a storeroom. Prior to this experience I had diligently studied the week's Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, which was on the subject of "God the Preserver of Man." I was so uplifted by this study that after I had fallen I was able to get up and go about my duties without any inconvenience or sense of shock. I have also had protection and freedom from fear in many miles of travel by automobile and airplane through realizing that I could never go beyond God's allness and that neither height nor depth could separate me from Him.

I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for revealing the wonderful truth of Christian Science to us. Much good has been received from the loving help of practitioners. I have gained inspiration and healings from the lectures and from the singing of hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal. Joy and peace have come to me from church attendance, and I am acquiring an ever-increasing understanding of God's allness from my daily study of the Lesson-Sermon and from the Christian Science literature. I am most grateful to be learning that joy is innate in man, that God is the only power and presence, and that love for God and man leads to the kingdom of heaven.—
