Before I recently became twenty years of age I was a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School. I attended it for eighteen years, and much good has come to me from that attendance. Numerous healings have proved to me that when correctly applied Christian Science can heal any discordant condition. When the allness of Love is felt and expressed and our minds are so full of good that false beliefs are unable to enter, we are demonstrating Christian Science.
When I joined the Navy I realized that I would have to rely on God alone in demonstrating and living the wonderful truths I learned in Sunday School. Christian Science has led me to do the correct thing at the right moment, delivered me from various phases of temptation, and helped me to overcome fear of the future, an inferiority complex, and many other aspects of mortal mind.
God's allness and ever-presence were proved to me while I was on a Navy cruise the winter before last. Everything went well until we were on the way back from the Azores. Our ship, an oil tanker, ran into a hurricane, which caused her to roll violently. The storm formed a complete circle around us, and it was realized that if we tried to go through it, the ship would probably break and capsize. We were alone, with no apparent help for miles around. That evening the men were told to sleep with life preservers on, as no one knew what might happen. I went below deck and began studying my Christian Science textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This helped me to overcome my fear and to know that God was right there with all of us and had not made the hurricane. Later I found that my mother, on that same night, had been led to work for my protection, a fact which proves that God is the one ever-present Mind.
