Students of Christian Science are learning to enjoy more and more of the fruits of disciplined thinking manifested in health, congenial activity, and ample supply, in harmonious relations with others, and in the "peace of God, which passeth all understanding" (Phil.4:7).
Yet, until enlightened by Christian Science there is probably nothing to which the human mind takes less kindly than discipline. Men chafe at the seeming restraint of ordered procedure, wanting only to be free to follow the whims of the deceitful senses. But later they miss discipline's reward. They are like the child who has never memorized the alphabet in orderly sequence and is later baffled by the telephone book or the dictionary. Often the undisciplined person takes refuge in resentment and bitterness when he sees discipline fulfill its golden promise in others and finds that those who have submitted to its wise and gentle curbing are experiencing success and prosperity in home, business, and social relations. Christian Science shows that all have the equal privilege of realizing man's indissoluble relationship with the Father-Mother God and of demonstrating God-given ability to reap the benefits of orderly thinking.
Christian Scientists are joyous and satisfied, profoundly grateful that their religion is founded upon a divine and demonstrable Principle. They know that man is Lovecontrolled, the beloved child of God, and not a frightened, bewildered, storm-tossed victim of the material senses. They know that the real man is loving because he expresses God, who is Love; that he reflects intelligence because he is the idea of divine Mind, God; and that because God is Spirit, he possesses spiritual sense, which gives him constant awareness of his priceless heritage and its manifold blessings.
