Christian Science was mentioned to me first by a young man, who spoke of it as a religion that healed, and next by a young woman with whom I worked, who had experienced a healing of cancer. It was not until years later, however, that it was again brought to my attention. After the birth of our second child for a few weeks a dear neighbor came in every day to help me bathe the baby and wash clothes. She continued to pay me visits from time to time, bringing me flowers from her garden and expressing much love and cheer.
One day the baby was constipated and manifested great distress. Frightened, and realizing the need for immediate help. I prayed to God as well as I knew how. Within a few minutes my neighbor came. She had not heard the baby's screaming, but had felt a desire to visit us. When I asked her what I should do, she replied. "If you wish, you can ask for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner." I requested her to telephone one for me. She did, and the practitioner spoke to me very lovingly, quieting my fears and telling me that God would take care of our little son. The healing came at once. Without pain the child was normally relieved, and that was the end of his suffering. This instantaneous healing occurred over twenty Years ago.
Our children were in regular attendance at Sunday School until they reached the age of twenty. We have had many physical healings during the years, and our needs have always been met when we have honestly applied the teachings of Christian Science.
