We enjoy a glorious liberty because we have a glorious God, a dependable divine Principle, which liberates us from a lawless and illegitimate existence, based on a belief in a mind apart from God. Our liberation from the bondage of materiality comes by means of spiritual perception, prayer, and progress.
In this liberating Principle "we live, and move, and have our being," as the Apostle Paul implied when he addressed the Athenians (Acts 17:28). The human intellect did not inform the Greek philosophers of divine Mind's existence; it obscured rather than clarified the meaning of God. They were searchers and seekers, but the true source of wisdom was hidden from them because they worshiped gods many. If they had had the spiritual perception to separate the so-called human mind from divine wisdom and intelligence, they would have turned from the husks of philosophy and would have enjoyed the practical application of Truth as it touched their reason and enlightened their understanding. They required to realize the law and luminary of divine Love.
Sense testimony, based upon the belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter, imprisons mankind in the errors it creates. To liberate oneself from the enslaving senses requires a detachment of thought from matter, a breaking away from limitations of sense testimony, and a fixity of purpose in daily demonstrating the spiritual freedom and natural emancipation of man.
