CHRIST THE PATH AND THE PRIZE

From the May 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"CHRIST is the path, and Christ the prize," reads a line in a much-loved hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 59). How well these words portray the method and the purpose of Christian Science demonstration!

Since our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, often speaks of demonstration in connection with spiritual healing, the student of Science should be thoroughly familiar with her use of a term which is so important in Christian Science practice.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she speaks of demonstration as Immanuel, which means "God with us." Thus, to perceive the scientific meaning of this subject requires spiritual understanding of a basic premise of Christian Science —the allness of God, Spirit, and His ever-present manifestation of divinity, the Christ.
