Having waited well over fifty years, I feel I should not delay longer my tribute of praise and gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. I first heard of this Science whilst living in India; and having discarded my old theological beliefs, due to the influence of certain philosophical writers, I was ready to imbibe the dynamic truths presented to the world by Mary Baker Eddy. The logic, reason, and inspiration of the spiritual approach were irresistible, and I knew that the true explanation of life had been revealed through Mrs. Eddy's spiritual perception of the Scriptures.
My life was vitally affected, and my mind was stirred from basic materialism to the freedom found in Science. All my questions were answered, and I began to see that God's hand had guided me in the past, although I had not known it. In the words of Isaiah (45:5), "I girded thee, though thou hast not known me."
One of the first physical healings that I can recall is that of boils, from which I used to suffer grievously during the rainy seasons. Fever and quinsy, which had lasted for three days, were healed in a few minutes when the only student of Christian Science whom I knew at that time came and prayed at my bedside. Since then I have not resorted to materia medica. My needs have been many, but they have been met in Christian Science. Some of these healings have been those of rupture, dislocation of the jaw, influenza, severed sinews in the leg and wrist, lumbago, and protection in times of danger.
