Testimonies of Healing

Shortly after the end of the Second World War,...

From the September 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Shortly after the end of the Second World War, it became obvious that my family and I needed a larger place in which to live. At the time there was a housing shortage, and finding another home, large or small, seemed an impossibility. However, I refused to be daunted and began to work prayerfully to know that man, being actually an idea of God, dwells harmoniously in divine Mind.

Not very long after I had begun this specific work, some changes were planned in the apartment house we lived in. We were asked if we should like to have a larger apartment which had just been vacated so that the one we were in could be used in the contemplated changes. The rent was considerably greater; but my husband and I had had many proofs of God's care. We knew that God had always taken care of us and would continue to do so. The move proved to be a progressive step.

Quite a few years later an opportunity came to leave the city we had always called home, and we were indeed ready for this change. My husband had to leave before our daughter and I left, and predictions were made that for at least a month he would not be able to find a place for us to live. However, I did not accept the necessity for delay and did some prayerful work about the situation. Within twenty-four hours of my husband's arrival in the new locality, he was able to rent a desirable place for us to live in. In fact, he had a choice of three places!
