Cultivate Gratitude

Gratitude is not merely a social grace; it is a spiritual element of thought essential to humanity's well-being. In its highest expression it is a quality of uplifted faith by means of which men respond to God, acknowledging His power and the divine affluence even though, as yet, it may be unseen to mortal eyes. Through gratitude men attune themselves to the source of infinite good and clear the channels for the enjoyment in human experience of the supply of spiritual good flowing unceasingly from God to His idea, immortal man.

Christian Science reveals that God is forever pouring out to His offspring, man, an abundance of spiritual qualities and ideas not only adequate to supply his simple daily needs but to enrich his whole life experience beyond measure. They are freely given to every individual He has created, and they are renewed moment by moment. They are always present and can be perpetually enjoyed by all God's offspring.

But what if human experience seems barren and men are hungry, desolate, lonely, and forlorn? The Bible says: "Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! ... He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings. And there he maketh the hungry to dwell."Ps. 107:31, 35, 36;
