New Director of The Mother Church

From the November 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Board of Directors announces the retirement of Inman H. Douglass, C. S. B., and the election of DeWitt John, C. S. B., to succeed him as a Director of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The change became effective on October 1, 1970.

Mr. Douglass has retired at his own request to devote his full time to the teaching and practice of Christian Science in Dallas, Texas. For twenty years he has served The Mother Church in various important capacities: as Committee on Publication for Texas, as Manager of the Washington, District of Columbia, Office of Committee on Publication, as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, and as a Director of The Mother Church.

Mr. Douglass will hold his classes and pupils' association meetings in Dallas, where he first entered the public practice of Christian Science in 1942. Seven years later, following Normal class instruction in the Board of Education, he became an authorized teacher of Christian Science. Through many years he was also active in Second Church, Dallas, serving it as First Reader and in other capacities.
