God's Allness and the Unreality of Disease

From the November 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"It is scientific to rob disease of all reality," writes Mrs. Eddy, "and to accomplish this, you cannot begin by admitting its reality."No and Yes, p. 2; This arousing and challenging statement is a fundamental teaching in the successful practice of Christian Science healing.

Understanding the unreality of disease changes human thought and, in turn, alters physical functions, for human thought embraces the body and delineates upon it its own concepts. Human thought, not the body, holds the false concept of disease, and this concept can be eliminated. The action of Truth on human consciousness produces healing.

Christian Science proves that its teachings are demonstrable. The proposition that disease is unreal finds no support in human reasoning, which believes just the opposite—that disease is real. Yet, to obtain the proof of spiritual healing, one must abide by the truths and rules laid down in Science. One rule is to maintain and to understand the unreality of disease.
