The Continuing Stream

From the August 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Wells sometimes run dry in seasons of drought. And we become acutely aware of our needs when the electric power goes off. But the stream of Truth cannot be cut off; the powerful flow of good from God to man is unceasing. The Psalmist wrote, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits." Ps. 68:19;

The constant outpouring of good, which appears according to God's law of abundance and harmony, is available to all. The chief requisite is to align oneself with and to conform to this law. Now just what is God's law, and how may we learn to conform to it?

Christ Jesus summarized the law in the two great commandments: Love God to the utmost, and one's neighbor as oneself. See Matt. 22:35—40 ; Jesus enlarged on this subject by referring to the Ten Commandments and when he delivered his Sermon on the Mount. In the degree that the individual is obedient to these instructions and spiritually understands the need for remaining so, he continues to receive the blessing of God, and is nourished and cared for by His never–ending stream of good.
