From the Directors

New Editor and Associate Editor of the Periodicals

From the October 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Board of Directors announces the election of Geoffrey J. Barratt, C. S. B., of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, as Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science, effective October 1.

An Associate Editor of the periodicals since 1973, Mr. Barratt joined The Mother Church in 1951, received Primary class instruction in 1954, and became a Journal listed practitioner in 1959. Following instruction in the Normal class of the Board of Education in 1967, he became a teacher of Christian Science. He has had broad experience in branch church work. He has been Sunday School superintendent, Second Reader, executive board member, and an advisor to several Christian Science college organizations. He is a graduate of Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where he helped found a college organization. He becomes the first Editor of the periodicals from Australia.

Mr. Barratt succeeds Carl J. Welz, C. S. B., of San Francisco, who wishes to return to that city to devote his full time to the teaching and public practice of Christian Science. Mr. Welz has served with distinction as Editor since 1970, after having been an Associate Editor from 1961 to 1967. His editorials have been notable for their freshness of vision and metaphysical substance. During his tenure as Editor there have been many new developments in the design and content of the periodicals. He has our warmest appreciation and good wishes.
