It is my deep desire to share healings through complete and radical reliance on the teachings of Christian Science. There has been no medical aid given at any time.
In one of my earlier years in teaching school, we were presenting a Christmas school program. During the evening I felt much distress in my side. At the close of the program I could not stand upright and friends drove me to my home in a nearby town. My mother, who was a student of Christian Science, prayed for me during the following days. The distress and pain gradually faded away. In the second week of my vacation I was completely free. This condition had all the symptoms of appendicitis. When I returned to school, I was asked if I had had an operation. I said, "No, it wasn't necessary." I am so grateful for this healing, accomplished through the spiritual understanding my mother had obtained of God's power to heal.
After I was married, I had a severe fall, and I turned completely away from material aid to Christian Science for my help. This healing I wrote about in a testimony published in the Journal of October, 1957.
My mother was healed of a serious infection on one foot and leg. We called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. When an older brother came to visit our mother, he hurried out to a drugstore for material remedies, as he did not then understand the power of prayer. When this occurred I went into another room, picked up the Bible, and prayed to find an answer. The Bible fell open to II Chronicles, chapter 16, verses 12 and 13, which tells of Asa, who was diseased in his feet and turned away from God.
When my brother left, I asked my mother if she wished to use the remedy or to rely radically on God. She was willing to turn away from all medical aid. Faithful and inspiring work was done by the practitioner. Her joy and steadfastness gave us all strength and encouragement. The victory came. Mother was able to be up and about and became as free and happy as before.
My husband had an ulcer on the top of his foot. A practitioner who had helped me treated him. Soon the healing began and his foot was perfectly healed.
Just three years ago two members of our family passed on in a short period. At first I had been sustained through these times by seeing Life as God. Then suddenly I let grief in, and I felt as though I were passing on. Pains were felt throughout my chest, a shortage of breath, and weakness throughout the body. I reached for the Christian Science Hymnal. Opening to a loved hymn at random, I gained my composure. I called a practitioner, and her comforting and confident words released me from fear. In an hour's time I could call her back to say that I was perfectly free. How grateful I was for that healing and for this devoted worker.
For all these healings and for many more fine demonstrations, my gratitude is unbounded for God's love, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, for Mrs. Eddy, and for Christian Science practitioners and teachers.
