We are pleased to announce the election of Hal M. Friesen, C. S. B., of Newport Beach, California, effective September 1, as a member of The Christian Science Board of Directors. Mr. Friesen succeeds our beloved colleague and friend, David E. Sleeper, C. S. B., who is retiring from the Board of Directors after serving over twenty-three years in various administrative posts, including that of Director. Mr. Sleeper has for a long time expressed his desire to return to the full-time teaching and practice of Christian Science in Dallas, Texas. He returns to his field with our deep appreciation for his faithful and diligent work for The Mother Church during his term of service.
Mr. Friesen is a lifelong Christian Scientist. He has distinguished himself through considerable experience in the healing and teaching work. He became a Journal-listed practitioner in 1963 and an authorized teacher of Christian Science in 1967. He is currently a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Newport Beach, where he has served as First Reader, executive board member, and in other capacities. He has served The Mother Church as Manager of its Department of Branches and Practitioners since January 1977. Mr. Friesen is a graduate of the University of Kansas, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, and was active there in the Christian Science College Organization. Before entering the public practice he was a representative of the textbook division of Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich, of New York City. He has had business experience in a variety of executive positions in the fields of sales, marketing, and personnel. Mr. Friesen will continue to teach his classes and conduct his association meetings in California.
