Jealousy dismissed

From the September 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I asked myself:
"Have you ever been jealous of Jesus?
"Have you ever felt a sharp thrust of envy as you consider
the uniqueness of his career, his purity, his power?"
Decidedly not. Rather have I felt inspired, gratified, satisfied,
by the Christly dominion of his experience.

I asked myself:
"Have you ever been jealous of a friend?
"Have you ever felt a sharp thrust of envy as you consider
the brilliant career, the prestige, the power?"
Decidedly not . . . once I've stepped aside from personal sense and been
glad to rejoice in true evidence of good as the Christ
made manifest.

No. I've never been jealous of Jesus.
Nor have I, in the magnanimity of my own Christly nature,
ever been jealous, my friend, of you.
