Some years ago my deep search into the Science of Christianity proved to me that "with God all things are possible" (Mark 10:27), and I was healed through mental surgery of adhesions. I had a slight knowledge of Christian Science since my childhood and had sort of tucked it away in my consciousness as something I could turn to in case I needed it. Well, the time came when I really needed it!
After examination by a medical doctor, I was told I had adhesions. This was a result of an operation for appendicitis I had as a child. Partly because of the fear of needing another operation and partly because I really wanted to prove that Christian Science does heal, I took my stand to heal the condition through prayer. I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and together we started working. Since I was a very new student in Christian Science, my understanding was such that I leaned heavily on the conviction and clear understanding of the practitioner. Words can never express my sincere gratitude for the inspiring help she gave me and for her tender love and patience.
I really buckled down and worked to gain a deeper understanding of God and my relationship to Him as His perfect child. I would study literally hours every day in the systematic way provided for us in Christian Science by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy—studying the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly, reading all the Christian Science periodicals, studying the other writings of Mrs. Eddy— always holding to the fact that this was a provable and practical Science, setting forth the theology of Christ Jesus in demonstration.
